# Rate Limiting

> Limits applied to the Lightyshare API

Limits apply per account and per IP address. Over a limit, the API answers `429` with a `Retry-After` header.

| Requests | Per minute | Per hour |
| - | - | - |
| Reads (`GET`) | 120 | 3,000 |
| Writes | 60 | 1,500 |
| Sending a message | 30 | 500 |

Creating products and bundles is also limited to 60 per minute and 1,000 per hour.

Messages have a business limit too, 60 per hour for an established account. It answers `429` with a `detail` field saying which limit was reached.
